Oenothera Biennis Seed Oil (Evening Primrose) — EPO comprises fatty acids, phytosterols, polyphenol compounds, and flavonoids. It’s rich in concentrations of linoleic acid (65%-85%), gamma-linolenic acid (7%-14%), and oleic acid. This combination suppresses inflammation and reduces oxidative stress. It also mediates acne- causing inflammation in pilosebaceous units.
Hippophae Rhamnoides L. Seed Oil (Sea Buckthorn) — Contains omega fatty acids 3, 6, 7, and 9. DMK’s sea buckthorn supply is grown wild in Mongolia. Like many of our ingredients, it is harvested using supercritical extraction, where highly pressurized CO2 acts as a solvent to break down the material into highly concentrated extracts. Omega-7 is a lipid naturally found in the skin. It improves barrier function and increases lubrication and hydration of tissues. Sea buckthorn oil also contains gamma- linoleic acid (GLA, an omega-6 fatty acid). Combined, these two fatty acids work to regenerate and repair the skin, slow aging, and reduce inflammation. GLA improves blood flow and oxygenation; it is also a component of the intercellular lipids found in the epidermis and the phospholipids of cell membranes.
